Pesare le merci, scandire il tempo: alcuni pesi da bilancia e una meridiana

Abstract

Due pesi in pietra e una meridiana in marmo non costituiscono forse "tesori archeologici". Rappresentano però azioni della vita quotidiana del passato e testimoniano che qualcuno, più volte, ha pesato delle merci o ha seguito lo scorrere del tempo. Pur non provenendo da contesti chiusi che ne consentano una precisa provenienza e una attribuzione cronologica certa, questi oggetti d'uso vengono proposti sia come documentazione attuale sia come suggerimento per ulteriori studi e approfondimenti.

Two stone weights and a marble sundial are perhaps not "archaeological treasures". However, they represent actions from the daily life of the past and testify that someone, several times, has weighed goods or followed the passage of time. Although they do not come from closed contexts that allow a precise provenance and a certain chronological attribution, these objects of use are offered both as current documentation and as a suggestion for further studies and insights.
